Indian police launch crackdown on SIM card vendors in IIOJK

Srinagar: Indian police have launched a crackdown and conducted raids on SIM card vendors in the Kupwara and Islamabad districts of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, police personnel have been carrying out raids and searches at multiple locations, including Handwara, Kokernag and Bijbehara of the districts.

The police, under the pretext of thorough verification of identity and address documents linked to SIM cards, are reportedly creating an atmosphere of fear among the business community.

Authorities have threatened harsh actions, including cancellation of business licences and criminal prosecution, if vendors fail to submit detailed information at local police stations.

Members of the business community have expressed concern, saying that being forced to visit police stations disrupts their daily operations.

They criticized the policy as violent and anti-people, reflecting the repressive tactics of the BJP regime in the occupied territory.
