IIOJK: Unseasonal snowfall damages crops and power lines

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), untimely snowfall has caused widespread damage to apple orchards, standing crops, and power infrastructure across several areas of the territory.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Larnoo and Daksum in south Kashmir’s Islamabad district were among the worst hit, where snow damaged apple-laden trees and electricity supply lines, disrupting both livelihoods and essential services.

Deputy Director Horticulture Kashmir, Javed Ahmad Butt, said the department is currently assessing the extent of crop losses caused by the unexpected weather. He urged farmers to delay harvesting operations until conditions stabilize.

Meanwhile, the occupied Jammu and Kashmir administration has advised travelers to check road conditions before venturing into upper reaches, as snowfall and slippery roads have made travel risky. KMS-14S
