Srinagar-Jammu highway shut again after landslides, shooting stones

Srinagar: The Srinagar- Jammu highway, the main road link connecting the Kashmir Valley with the rest of world, has been closed for vehicular movement following landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones at several locations.

According to Kashmir Media Service, officials said on Tuesday that the vital highway remains unsafe for travel and will stay shut until clearance operations are completed. Continuous rainfall over the past 24 hours triggered multiple landslides, disrupting traffic movement and stranding several vehicles along the route.

Meanwhile, the Mughal Road, Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri (SSG) Road, and Sinthan Top also remain closed due to heavy snow accumulation in the higher reaches.

Authorities have strongly advised commuters and transporters not to travel on these routes until the roads are fully restored and to confirm the latest status from official traffic control units.
