Kulgam residents block road in protest against prolonged power outages

Srinagar: Deep resentment is brewing among the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir as residents of Yaroo DH Pora area in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district staged a strong protest against the authorities over prolonged and unscheduled power cuts.
According to Kashmir Media Service, scores of locals blocked DH Pora–Kulgam road for more than two hours, disrupting vehicular movement and causing severe inconvenience to commuters. The protesters chanted slogans against the authorities, accusing them of indifference and failure to ensure basic public services.
“We have been facing relentless power cuts for months. Despite repeated complaints, no one listens to us,” said a protester, adding that the situation reflects the broader neglect of Kashmiri people’s welfare under Modi-led Indian regime.
Police and administration officials later arrived and persuaded the protesters to disperse after assuring that their demands would be addressed soon.
Locals said that while Indian authorities continue to make hollow promises, life in IIOJK remains marked by deprivation, mismanagement, and growing alienation.
