Indian police kill Sikh civilian in ‘fake encounter’ in Amritsar

Amritsar: Indian police killed a civilian of the Sikh community in Punjab state.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the police, during a search operation, shot and killed the civilian identified as Harjinder Singh, alias Harry, in what officials are calling a “fake encounter” in Amritsar city late last night.
Indian police, justifying the killing, have labelled the victim a notorious criminal, claiming he had links with foreign-based gangsters and anti-India elements.
According to Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, the Sikh civilian Harjinder Singh had recently been released on bail.
