Two Kashmiris including JKLF leader arrested in IIOJK

Srinagar: Indian forces personnel have arrested two Kashmiris, including a Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front leader, in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Indian Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), accompanied by paramilitary and police personnel, arrested JKLF leader Shafat Ahmed Shangloo during a house raid in the Ishber Nishat area of Srinagar.

The CBI claimed that Shangloo was arrested as an “absconder” in a 35-year-old case related to the kidnapping of Rubiya Sayeed, daughter of late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, former Indian Home Minister, in 1989. The JKLF leader has been arrested multiple times over the past three decades in the same case and other cases linked to the Kashmir freedom movement.

On the other hand, Indian police arrested Naseer Ahmad Baba (26), a shopkeeper, during a search operation in the Tangdar area of Kupwara district. The police claimed they recovered 40 rounds of AK-47 ammunition from his shop in Tangdar area of north Kashmir’s Karnah subdivision before arresting him. KMS
