Kashmir a political issue, must be resolved on the UN principles: APHC

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has strongly condemned the ongoing surge in atrocities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), emphasizing that Kashmir is purely a political issue that must be resolved in accordance with the United Nations’ principle of the right to self-determination.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement from Srinagar hailed the unparalleled sacrifices of the Kashmiri people in their struggle for this inalienable right, describing them as a remarkable chapter in the global history of righteous demands for plebiscite.

He praised the steadfastness of the people of IIOJK and the Hurriyat leadership imprisoned for their political stance, while sharply criticizing the BJP government for pursuing a Hindutva settler agenda aimed at altering the demographic composition of the internationally recognized disputed territory.

Minhas said that the BJP regime was using draconian laws and extensive surveillance to intimidate and suppress the oppressed Kashmiris, forcing them to abandon their just demand

The APHC reiterated the Kashmiris’ resolve to take their ongoing freedom struggle to its logical conclusion at all costs. The spokesman urged the United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, to take cognizance of the grave situation prevailing in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and to initiate measures for the settlement of the Kashmir dispute in line relevant UN resolutions.
