Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has said that the Indian BJP government’s actions following the repeal of Articles 370 and 35-A in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir are aimed at altering the territory’s demography and seizing control of its local economy in this internationally disputed territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, said the BJP-led Indian government, in collusion with the RSS, is secretly implementing its nefarious Hindutva agenda, using the Indian Army and police to colonize IIOJK. He added that the regime is forcibly exploiting Kashmir’s resources, weakening its economy, and altering its demographic composition.
Minhas pointed out that India’s colonial occupation of Jammu and Kashmir began when Indian troops illegally landed in Srinagar on October 27, 1947. Referring to the Land Grant Rules-2022, he said the BJP regime is using another colonial tactic to seize Kashmiri land and hand it over to Indian citizens. He added that the revocation of Articles 370 and 35-A on August 5, 2019, removed legal barriers, allowing non-locals to settle in IIOJK and threatening its demographic integrity.
“Under the guise of infrastructure development, vast tracts of fertile land are being acquired without proper compensation or consultation with the locals. This is not development; it is dispossession,” he asserted.
The APHC spokesperson said India is completely disregarding the Kashmiris’ right to decide their future in line with UN resolutions and is relying on false narratives to divert attention from human rights violations in the disputed territory.
The statement made it clear that the people of IIOJK would never accept such illegal and anti-Kashmiri measures. It urged the international community to pressure India to halt its state terrorism in the occupied territory and resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with relevant UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
