MPs raise Kashmiri prisoners’ plight, statehood demand with Amit Shah
New Delhi: Three Rajya Sabha members from Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir met Indian Home Minister Amit Shah and raised serious humanitarian, constitutional and democratic concerns relating to the occupied territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, MPs Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan, Sajjad Ahmad Kitchloo and Gurwinder Singh Oberoi highlighted the acute suffering of Kashmiri prisoners lodged in jails outside the occupied territory, saying families face unbearable hardships due to distance, poverty and restricted access.
The MPs urged the Indian Home Minister to release detainees against whom serious charges are not proven and transfer others back to jails in Kashmir to ensure access to courts and families. They also reiterated the long-pending demand for restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, citing assurances by Indian leaders and the Supreme Court.
The MPs warned that continued delay is deepening political alienation and administrative distress in the occupied territory.
