Uttarakhand: Mehbooba seeks action against assault on Kashmiri shawl-seller

Srinagar: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti has asked Uttarakhand Director General of Police (DGP) for immediate and strong action against those involved in assault and humiliation of a Kashmiri shawl-seller in the hill state.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mehbooba Mufti in a post on microblogging site X expressed deep anguish over videos showing a Kashmiri shawl-seller being assaulted and humiliated by Hindutva elements.
“Bilal Ahmad, a shawl-seller was brutally assaulted by right wing goons in Kashipur Uttarakhand. Despite approaching the Pratappur Goshala Police Station no FIR has reportedly been registered so far. Urge the DGP Uttarakhand to kindly intervene and ensure that an FIR is registered so that the perpetrators are held accountable and such incidents are not repeated in future,” Mehbooba wrote on X.
She described the assault on the Kashmiri shawl-seller as quite disturbing and demanded strict action against the involved persons.
