Protests in IIOJK; residents, bank employees demand basic amenities, rights

Jammu: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, residents of Draman and Draj villages in Rajouri district staged a protest over poor electricity and drinking water supply, lack of proper road connectivity, and unfulfilled development promises.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the demonstrators gathered in Draman area of Kotranka, expressing strong resentment over the authorities’ failure to provide basic civic amenities in their villages.
Meanwhile, bank employees under the banner of the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) held demonstrations across Jammu, Srinagar, and Leh, demanding the implementation of a five-day work week. Employee leaders said the long-pending demand seeks to address excessive workload, rising stress levels, and staff shortages in banks.
Both protests reflect growing frustration among residents and employees over unaddressed grievances, highlighting the need for immediate administrative and policy-level interventions in the territory.
