20 houses burnt, several livestock killed in horrific fire incident in Kishtwar

Jammu: A devastating fire in the Kishtwar district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has completely destroyed at least 20 residential houses.

According to Kashmir Media Service, reports suggest that that several livestock were also burned alive, while at least four individuals sustained burn injuries.

The fire broke out in the Dachan area of Kishtwar during the night and spread rapidly. Due to the area’s difficult terrain, poor road conditions, and limited access, the arrival of fire tenders was delayed. Despite several hours of efforts, the fire could not be brought under control, causing significant destruction, officials said.

The blaze destroyed 20 residential houses, including a government center located in a rented property. Those whose homes were destroyed include: Firdous Mir, Ismail Mir, Alfa Mir, Ghulam Mohammad Mir, Bashir Ahmad, Liaqat Hussain, Jibran, Zafar Hussain, Firdous Mir, Waseem, Nadeem, Tausif, Yaseen, Abu Sohail, Mohammad Yusuf, Ismail, Bashir Ahmad, and Abdul Rahman. During the rescue operations, several other structures also suffered partial damage. The exact cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
