Locals protest garbage dumping along Tawi river in Udhampur

Jammu: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, residents of Chenani area in Udhampur district staged a protest, demanding urgent action to address environmental and health hazards caused by garbage dumping along the Tawi River.
According to Kashmir Media Service, protesters raised slogans against local authorities, alleging that the ongoing dumping was contaminating water supplied to Chenani and Udhampur town, resulting in cases of jaundice, diarrhoea, and skin diseases.
Residents said repeated complaints had gone unheeded. They demanded a permanent, scientific solution and warned that they could block the national highway if the issue remained unresolved.
Authorities have not yet announced any plan to relocate the dumping site, highlighting the growing public unrest and health risks.
