India police arrest minor in Pathankot, Punjab

Jammu: Indian police arrested a 15-year-old Kashmiri minor on fabricated charges in the Indian state of Punjab.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the minor, a resident of Samba district, was taken into custody in the Pathankot area.
Indian police claimed the boy had reportedly been in contact with a person in Pakistan for nearly a year and alleged that he shared sensitive information related to India’s security through his mobile phone.
Pathankot Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Daljinder Singh Dhillon, justifying the minor’s detention, said police had received specific inputs suggesting that the boy was in touch with officials in Pakistan and was passing on security-related details.
The boy had lost his father more than a year ago, whom he believes was murdered. Reports say the father’s death has severely affected the boy’s mental state.
