Hindu mob demolishes Dehradun shrine, fears grip minorities

Dehradun: A shrine in Rishikesh area of Dehradun was demolished by a Hindu mob linked to extremist organisations, amid ongoing attacks on minorities across India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident occurred on January 2 in Bhattu Wala, Rishikesh, where the mob pulled down the shrine, using hammers and shouting Hindu religious slogans. A video of the attack shows men abusing Muslims and issuing threats.
Witnesses said the family pleaded with the mob to stop, but they ignored requests. The attackers used hateful language, making communal slurs and claims about “love jihad”. Residents said panic spread as the demolition happened in broad daylight, with people afraid to intervene.
Rights activists say it’s worrying that extremist groups target Muslims and Islamic symbols in India with impunity. The activists have demanded strict action against those involved.
