Indian obduracy key hurdle to Kashmir settlement: APHC
Resents BJP regime’s intensified repressive tactics in IIOJK

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has said that Kashmir has continued to bleed for over seven decades due to India’s obstinacy and jingoistic policies, stressing that New Delhi’s intransigence remains the primary obstacle to a just and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman, Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, said that India’s rigid and unrealistic approach has turned Kashmir into a dangerous nuclear flashpoint, while Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir stands as a glaring example of prolonged military occupation marked by systematic violations of international law. He added that India continues to forcibly deny the people of Kashmir their universally recognized right to self-determination, despite clear commitments made before the United Nations.
The spokesman said that the Indian BJP regime has intensified its repressive tactics in the territory following the revocation of Articles 370 and 35-A on 5 August 2019. Minhas said that Jammu and Kashmir is a UN-recognized disputed territory whose political future is yet to be decided through a plebiscite.
The APHC strongly condemned the statements of Hindutva organizations including the BJP, RSS, VHP and Bajrang Dal opposing admissions of Kashmiri Muslim students to the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Medical College, terming it a Hindutva-driven anti-Kashmir policy of the BJP government.
The APHC said that the Modi regime, along with the Indian army establishment, has resumed arms training and distribution of weapons among Hindutva militants organized under the name of Village Defence Guards in the Jammu region. It said that the establishment of new training centres in various districts near the Line of Control confirms that weapons and ammunition are being supplied to these so-called Village Defence Guards by the Indian army to promote further terrorism in the area.
The statement added that Kashmiris are being punished for demanding their inalienable right to self-determination, while the New Delhi–installed LG regime continues to confiscate their properties to intimidate them into submission. It deplored that India is using state terrorism as official policy to punish the people of Kashmir.
It said that the grave human rights violations in IIOJK are directly linked to the unresolved Kashmir dispute and pose a serious challenge to the conscience of the world community.
The spokesman stressed that the international community is duty-bound to stand up and stop India from committing egregious human rights violations in the occupied territory. The APHC urged the United Nations and other global rights organizations to take practical steps for the just settlement of the Kashmir dispute so that permanent peace can be established in the region.
