India ‘seizes’ suspicious pigeon along LoC in Jammu, probe under way

Jammu: Indian authorities claimed to have captured a “suspicious” pigeon from a forward village near the Line of Control (LoC) in Akhnoor sector of Jammu, once again turning an ordinary incident into a matter of exaggerated security alarm.
According to Kashmir Media Service, officials stated that the pale grey pigeon, bearing two black wing bars, was caught by a 13-year-old boy, Aryan, in Kharah village this morning. The bird was reportedly found wearing red and yellow rings on its legs inscribed with “Rehmat Sarkar” and “Rizwan 2025,” followed by some numbers. The wings of the pigeon were also stamped, officials added.
Following the incident, the pigeon was handed over to Pallanwala police for “further investigation”.
Observers note that Indian authorities have repeatedly created needless hysteria over birds and balloons found near the LoC and Working Boundary in the past, instead of addressing the real humanitarian and political issues in the region.
