Mughal Road closed for 7th day; Srinagar–Jammu Highway faces slow traffic

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Mughal Road remained closed for the seventh consecutive day on Sunday, as severe frost and slippery conditions continue to delay its restoration.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Srinagar–Jammu highway is also facing slow traffic and congestion in several stretches.
The Mughal Road, linking Rajouri and Poonch with the rest of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, has been blocked since Monday following fresh snowfall and accumulation across its entire stretch. Attempts to partially reopen the road were postponed as fresh frost worsened conditions, making vehicular movement risky.
Meanwhile, the Srinagar–Jammu highway, the crucial all-weather road connecting Kashmir with the rest of the world, witnessed slow movement. Traffic authorities reported congestion at Balli Nullah, Dewal, Nashri-Dalwas, Maroog, and Kishtwari Pather between Udhampur and Banihal due to single-lane stretches and breakdowns of heavy vehicles at multiple points.
The Traffic Department issued a fresh advisory urging commuters to travel during daylight hours and avoid night travel between Nashri and Navyug tunnels. Drivers were reminded to follow lane discipline and traffic regulations to prevent further delays.
