India ramps up operations in Chenab Valley ahead of Republic Day

Jammu: Indian forces, under the pretext of preparations for India’s Republic Day, continued intensified search operations across multiple villages and sensitive locations in the Chenab Valley, along the Line of Control (LoC) and the Working Boundary in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the operations were conducted in several parts of Doda district, including Bhalla and areas near Bhaderwah. In Kishtwar district, Indian forces have stepped up searches in Paddar and Atholi, while Ramban district is also witnessing heightened activity.

The operations have extended to Rajouri and Poonch districts, where villages close to the LoC are being thoroughly checked. Additional measures are in place in Akhnoor, particularly near the Chenab river entry point toward Punjab, as well as sensitive LoC crossings at Tattapani and Mendhar.

Additional personnel have been deployed in vulnerable areas, while night patrols and area domination exercises have also been intensified.

The brutal operations, which have been continuing for several days, have caused widespread anxiety among local residents, as the heavy military presence, repeated checks, and movement restrictions disrupt daily life

Analysts say the intensified operations reflect New Delhi’s continued focus on militarization of the occupied territory, using Republic Day as a pretext to assert control and intimidate residents in sensitive border areas.
