Hindutva goons attack Christians inside church, stop worship in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A Hindutva mob stormed a church in a village in Odisha state, assaulting members of the tribal Christian community and preventing them from conducting worship.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident took place in Kapina village of Nabarangpur district.

The attackers used loudspeakers to threaten the Christians, warning that the church would be demolished and the community expelled from the village if they continued their religious activities.

When the Christians questioned why they were being stopped from praying, the mob attacked them and forcibly drove them out, a Times of India report said. Two Christian youths, 17-year-old Jala Dharsanta and 20-year-old Mohan Santa, were beaten severely.

Police have not yet taken any action against the perpetrators, dismissing the incident by citing pre-existing tensions between two groups in the village.
