Modi’s diplomatic hypocrisy exposed amid Middle East crisis

New Delhi: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s response to the ongoing Middle East crisis has laid bare New Delhi’s biased and self-serving foreign policy, analysts say.
According to Kashmir Media Service, while Iran faced a devastating joint US-Israel attack, Modi maintained diplomatic silence toward Tehran, failed to engage directly with Iranian leadership, and refrained from pressuring Israel to halt its strikes.
Instead, he called UAE’s leadership to condemn Iran’s retaliatory actions, signaling partiality toward anti-Iran coalitions.
For decades, India benefited from its strategic partnership with Iran, including subsidized low-price oil supplies and a $500 million investment in the Chabahar Port, providing crucial access to Afghanistan and Central Asia under a 10-year agreement due to 2024.
However, amid the ongoing 2026 crisis, India allocated zero budget to Chabahar, appeared to abandon its longstanding Iranian ties, and prioritized economic relations with Gulf states over principled diplomacy.
Critics warn that Modi’s selective outreach and alignment with Israel not only undermine regional stability but also threaten Muslim Ummah unity, exposing a pattern of opportunistic and divisive foreign policy.
