Congress President questions PM Modi’s silence in current global situation

New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has questioned Prime Minister Modi’s silence in the current global situation, especially after the US attack on India’s guest Iranian ship.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mallikarjun Kharge in a statement said Prime Minister Modi is silent even after the attack on an Iranian ship, which was a guest of India and was returning unarmed after participating in the ‘International Fleet Review 2026’.

He said the ongoing tension in the Gulf countries has also badly affected the Indian people. News has also come out about the death of some Indians in the Gulf countries, he added.

Expressing disappointment over the behavior of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said the Modi government’s negligence towards India’s strategic and national interests is clear to everyone.

He said the Indian government has neither expressed any concern nor condoled the incident of attack on the Iranian ship, adding that Prime Minister Modi is silent.

The Congress President said 38 Indian-flagged merchant ships and about 1100 sailors are stranded in the Strait of Hormuz and two Indian sailors, including Captain Ashish Kumar, have died. Why was no maritime defence or rescue operation initiated?

He also raised the question while criticizing Modi that when the country has only 25 days of crude oil and oil reserves left, what is our energy contingency plan in view of the increase in oil prices? especially when the Indian government has accepted the US demand to stop the import of Russian oil?

He said according to the statement given by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs on March 3, 2026, some Indian citizens have been killed or missing. He said what steps have been taken to protect those who are stranded there? He said there are one crore Indians living in the Gulf countries and medical students are sending helpless video messages for help. How is the Indian government ensuring their safety? Is there any evacuation plan ready from the affected areas?

“Mr Kharge said Modi has surrendered both politically and morally. He said that this attitude undermines India’s core national interests and is going to destroy our foreign policy.
