Ladakh groups to stage protests on March 16 over Delhi’s delaying tactics

Leh: Ladakh leaders have called for a protest march on March 16 against the Indian government’s delaying tactics for talks.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Leh Apex Body (LAB) and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) are organizing the march to highlight the delay in talks with the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs and the detention of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk.

The protest will see participants marching from Singay Namgyal Chowk to Polo Ground in Leh, with rallies expected in both districts of Ladakh. LAB co-chairman Cherring Dorjay Lakruk cited the Lieutenant Governor’s oath ceremony as the reason for the permission denial.

Ladakh leaders are seeking inclusion under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution and restoration of statehood.
