Mirwaiz condemns assassination attempt on Farooq Abdullah in Jammu.
Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, All Parties Hurriyat Conference senior leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has condemned an assassination attempt on the President of the National Conference Farooq Abdullah in Jammu.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Farooq Abdullah narrowly escaped an assassination attempt when an armed man opened fire at him during a wedding ceremony in Jammu.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement on X said, “News about the attempt on Dr Farooq Abdullah Sahib’s life at a function in Jammu is concerning and condemnable. Relieved to know that he escaped unhurt. That someone with a loaded weapon got so close and fired at him, needs to be thoroughly probed.”
Meanwhile, in another tweet Mirwaiz welcomed the bail granted to APHC senior leader and Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Chairman Shabbir Ahmad Shah by the Indian Supreme Court after prolonged incarceration.
He said, “We fervently hope that the courts in the same spirit will give relief to all political prisoners and youth languishing in jails in India and IIOJK bringing cheer to their families and the people of Kashmir.”
