India passing through troubling phase due to Modi govt’s flawed foreign policy: Kejriwal

New Delhi: Head of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former Chief Minister of New Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, has said India is passing through a troubling phase due to the flawed foreign policy of the BJP-led government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Arvind Kejriwal, while addressing a press conference in New Delhi, said that the country’s LPG production has declined by nearly 50 percent, with the impact being felt primarily in the commercial sector as multiple restaurants are pulling their shutters down.
Holding the Modi government responsible for the crisis, he said that had the government not tilted towards the United States and Israel during the war, the country could have avoided the current situation. He said about 60 percent of India’s LPG requirements are met through imports, and nearly 90 percent of these supplies pass through the Strait of Hormuz, which remains under the control of Iranian forces.
Kejriwal said that the restaurant and hotel industry is bearing the brunt of the crisis, with thousands of establishments on the verge of closure, putting thousands of jobs at risk.
He said that the Modi government bowed to pressure from the United States, abandoning India’s own interests and not showing the country’s resolve in its foreign policy. He further said that many ordinary officials of the Trump administration are openly making objectionable and abominable remarks about the Indian government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi without any restraint, bringing embarrassment to a country of 1.4 billion people.
He also said that the Modi government is acting on the directives of the Donald Trump administration, stating that India reduced duties on cotton and stopped purchasing Russian oil at the behest of the US president, and this has severly impacted the country, monetarily as well as in terms of job losses.
He said that the “weak” Prime Minister is being blackmailed by the Trump administration, and the nation of 140 crore Indians are furious over this “capitulation”.
