National Conference reiterates demand for restoration of statehood in IIOJK

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the National Conference has strongly reiterated its demand for the immediate restoration of full statehood, terming it essential for effective governance and meaningful development in the territory.

According to Kashmir Media Service, National Conference General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, in a statement in Srinagar, made it clear that the restoration of full statehood is crucial to unlocking the true potential of governance in IIOJK.

“An elected government with full statehood will have the necessary authority, flexibility, and institutional strength to accelerate development, ensure accountability, and deliver justice more effectively,” he noted.

Referring to repeated assurances by the Indian leadership, he noted that both the Prime Minister and the Home Minister have publicly committed in and outside Parliament to restoring statehood to the territory, raising expectations among the people.

Sagar emphasized that the people have already fulfilled their democratic responsibility, and it is now incumbent upon the Indian government to honour its promises without further delay.
