BJP leader faces hostile situation at Kishtwar mosque amid rising public resentment

Jammu: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a BJP leader faced a hostile situation during a religious gathering at Jamia Masjid in Kishtwar, reflecting growing public discontent.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Dr Jahanzaib Sirwal was present on the stage during a religious ceremony when an altercation broke out, leading to alleged physical assault and disruption of the proceedings.

Eyewitnesses said the situation escalated after a confrontation involving an individual reportedly associated with the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, creating panic and concern among attendees at the place of worship.

Police officials have registered a complaint and initiated an investigation to ascertain the sequence of events and fix responsibility.

Political observers said the incident comes amid visible public resentment against Hindutva-aligned political narratives and actors, which many Kashmiris view as undermining their political identity and aspirations. They added that such developments highlight the widening disconnect between ground realities and New Delhi’s political agenda in the territory.
