Heavy snowfall forces closure of Bandipora-Gurez road

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, fresh snowfall has brought the Gurez area of Bandipora district to a standstill, with authorities suspending vehicular movement on the strategic 85-km Bandipora-Gurez road due to slippery conditions and reduced visibility.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Tulail Valley recorded 2 inches of snowfall, while Razdan Top received 4 inches, officials said.

The administration has issued an advisory urging residents and travelers to avoid unnecessary movement on the route until weather conditions improve.

The decision was taken to ensure commuter safety, with Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gurez, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, stating that movement on the road shall remain suspended till further orders. Temperatures have dropped noticeably in the region.
