Indian troops launch CASO in Ganderbal; Gunshots reported

Srinagar: Indian forces’ personnel have launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Ganderbal district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, a joint team of the Indian army, Centre Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and police carried out the operation in Ahrama woods Tuesday evening.

Indian officials claimed that the CASO was based on inputs about the presence of some so-called militants in the area. During searches, some gunshots were heard and more reinforcement has been rushed to the spot, they added.

More details are awaited.

It is noteworthy that occupation forces frequently launch such operations across IIOJK under various pretexts, with the underlying aim of intimidating the local population and pressuring them to abandon their legitimate demand for right to self-determination, as recognized by United Nations resolutions.
