Assertions being raised Ganderbal encounter was fake: Mehbooba

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti has said that assertions are being raised that the recent encounter in Ganderbal district, in which a local was gunned down, was fake.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Army on Wednesday claimed that a local “militant” Rashid Ahmad Mughal from the Lar area of the district, was killed in an encounter in the Arahama area.

Speaking to reporters in Srinagar Mehbooba said, “There was an encounter in Arhama in which a 29-year-old local youth, Rashid Mughal, was killed. There are allegations that it was a fake encounter. The Army first claimed he was a foreign militant, then they said he was a local linked to militancy.”

The PDP chief then said that Rashid Ahmad Mughal was an orphan who ran a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO). “Even his body was not handed over to the family… He was buried in Baramulla. This is what is happening with our youth,” she lamented.
