Reservation issue continues to remain major concern in IIOJK

Srinagar: The long-pending reservation issue continues to remain a major concern in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, with the matter once again resonating in the ongoing Budget Session of the Legislative Assembly.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had stated in December last year that the Cabinet had approved a revised reservation framework and forwarded it to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for approval. However, months later, there has been no significant progress on the issue.
The matter resurfaced this week in the Kashmir Assembly after National Conference MLA from South Kashmir, Syed Bashir Ahmad Veeri, became emotional when his Bill on the subject was not taken up for discussion.
“I am not challenging anyone, but I am speaking for the children who are watching us,” Veeri said, urging that his Bill be introduced, even if it were to be referred to a select committee.
