Mehbooba Mufti hails Pakistan’s role in brokering Iran-US ceasefire, calls for India-Pak talks

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti has welcomed the Iran-US ceasefire, saying it has brought immense relief to the Muslim Ummah and helped avert a potentially catastrophic global conflict.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mehbooba Mufti said it was encouraging that the Muslim Ummah, which had been suffering due to the war and thousands of deaths in Iran, could finally breathe a sigh of relief following the ceasefire. She said the development had prevented what could have escalated into a third world war and brought the world back from the brink of a major catastrophe.
Mehbooba Mufti acknowledged Pakistan’s key role in brokering the ceasefire, stating that its diplomatic efforts helped defuse tensions and restore calm in an increasingly volatile situation. She said Pakistan’s role in bringing about the ceasefire could not be ignored and deserved recognition at the international level.
Criticizing Indian leaders for their continued hostility towards Pakistan, she said New Delhi should rise above what she termed as “Pakistan obsession,” adding that acknowledging Pakistan’s constructive role would not damage India. Instead, she stressed that India should engage Pakistan in dialogue and negotiations to resolve outstanding issues and promote lasting peace in the region. She described the ceasefire as a great day for global peace.
Meanwhile, National Conference president Farooq Abdullah also welcomed the ceasefire and stressed that dialogue remains the only way to resolve conflicts. He said war is not the solution to any problem and thanked God for giving the concerned countries the courage to sit at the negotiating table.
