Concern expressed over continued missing Kashmiri youth in New Delhi

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, civil society activists have expressed serious concern over the continued disappearance of a Kashmiri youth in the Indian capital New Delhi since last year.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Shabbir Ahmad, an orphan from Baramulla, has been missing since February 2025 after he left for Delhi to shop for Eid and did not return.

A missing person case was registered at Nabi Kareem police station, however, the family has not received any response to their pleas from the Delhi police.

The civil society activists urged the Indian government to ensure a thorough investigation into his disappearance and inform the family whether he is alive or dead, so they can come out of trauma. The society members also appealed to the UNHRC and Amnesty International to intervene and compel New Delhi to disclose the whereabouts of Shabbir Ahmad and other missing Kashmiri youth.
