Factory workers’ sit-in protest enters 7th day in Jammu

Jammu: Workers of M/s Hindustan Pencils Private Limited (Natraj Pencils) entered the seventh day of their sit-in protest against the illegal closure of the unit in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, employees have been protesting outside the factory gate, stating that the management shut down the unit without prior permission from labour authorities or any notice to workers, in violation of labour laws.
Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) leader Harbans Choudhary, who visited the site, accused the management of trying to replace regular workers with contractual labour. He claimed a recent fire at the factory was not accidental but a “planned conspiracy” to claim insurance and justify closure.
The workers have urged the Labour Minister and Department to take strict action against the management and demanded compensation under “golden handshake” schemes.
