11 killed in multi-vehicle collision in UP’s Mirzapur

Mirzapur : Eleven people, including children, were killed after a suspected brake failure in a truck triggered a multi-vehicle collision on a road in Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur district Wednesday night, police said.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the accident occurred around 8:30 pm on a stretch descending from Dramandganj valley towards Lasoda. A truck travelling downhill reportedly rammed into another truck ahead after its brakes failed, crushing a car between them. Another vehicle was hit in the chain collision and caught fire.

Police, fire brigade teams, and locals launched rescue operations immediately. Superintendent of Police Aparna Rajat Kaushik said all victims were pulled from the mangled vehicles. District Magistrate Pawan Gangwar said seven of the deceased were from Mirzapur, three from Madhya Pradesh, and one from Sonbhadra. The dead include children aged 8 and 9.
