Indian forces tighten military grip across Rajouri, Poonch districts

Srinagar : Indian forces have further intensified their military crackdown across the Pir Panjal region of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, subjecting the population to fear and harassment under the guise of security measures.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the entire Indian military grid was placed on high alert in Rajouri and Poonch districts, with increased surveillance, intensified patrolling, and massive area domination exercises.

Indian army, paramilitary and police personnel carried out extensive cordon and search operations, particularly in the thickly forested areas of the Pir Panjal belt. Dozens of CASOs were conducted on Wednesday alone, while forces established multiple checkpoints on highways, roads and at public places, subjecting vehicles and civilians to intrusive searches and questioning.

Officials said CASOs and strategic deployment were carried out across key routes and sensitive locations.

However, political observers said such operations are part of New Delhi’s continued policy of militarization and collective punishment in the occupied territory, aimed at creating an atmosphere of intimidation among Kashmiris.

Residents of Rajouri and Poonch have expressed concern over frequent military operations, saying routine life is being severely disrupted due to repeated searches, restrictions on movement and constant surveillance.

India uses Pahalgam like incidents as a pretext to further tighten its occupation and advance the false narrative of “normalcy” while continuing repression on the ground.
