APHC-AJK holds prayer meeting in Islamabad

Islamabad: A prayer meeting was held at the office of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter in Islamabad today for the departed soul of Muhammad Azam, to pay tribute to Kashmir freedom movement leader Mirasussalam on his death anniversary and for the speedy recovery of renowned human rights activist Muhammad Ahsan Untoo.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC-AJK chapter Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi chaired the meeting.

In the prayer meeting, Hurriyat leaders paid glowing tributes to the services and sacrifices of late Muhammad Azam, the late Mirasussalam and Muhammad Ahsan Untoo for the Kashmir freedom movement.

Ghulam Muhammad Safi addressing the meeting said the late Muhammad Azam had dedicated his entire life to the Kashmir freedom movement, the right to self-determination and the legitimate rights of the Kashmiri people and demonstrated his commitment to the national cause even in the most difficult circumstances

He said such sincere and ideological workers are a valuable asset to any movement and his death is a great loss to the Kashmir freedom movement.

He paid tribute to late Mirasussalam and said that he was a thoughtful, dignified and very sociable personality of the Kashmir freedom movement who dedicated his entire life to the struggle for the right to self-determination. His services and struggle are a bright chapter in the history of the Kashmir freedom movement, he added.
The participants of the meeting prayed for the recovery of Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, saying he has been playing a prominent role in protecting human rights in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and highlighting the voice of the Kashmiri people at the global level for a long time.

They expressed the hope that Muhammad Ahsan Untoo will recover soon and will again serve the Kashmir freedom movement and human rights with full energy.

They reiterated their resolve that the Kashmiri people would continue their just struggle until they achieve their inalienable right to self-determination. They said the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir have been making extraordinary sacrifices for the past several decades and their morale is high despite all state oppression, political pressure and serious human rights violations.

The participants of the meeting urged the international community, the United Nations and international human rights organizations to fulfill their responsibilities and play an effective role in ensuring the fundamental right of self-determination to the Kashmiri people in accordance with the United Nations resolutions.

At the end of the meeting, special prayers were offered for the eternal peace of the late Muhammad Azam and late Mirasussalam, complete recovery of Muhammad Ahsan Untoo and success of the Kashmir freedom movement.

The prayer meeting was attended by senior Hurriyat leader Mahmood Ahmed Saghar, General Secretary Advocate Pervaiz Ahmed, Shamim Shawl, Syed Ijaz Rahmani, Zahid Ashraf, Raja Shaheen, Mian Muzaffar, Imtiaz Wani, Syed Gulshan, Sheikh Abdul Majid, Syed Kifayat Rizvi, Nazir Karnahi, Zahoor Ahmed and Information Secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Butt.
