APHC leader Sopori arrested, Hurriyat condemns detention

Srinagar: Indian police have arrested senior All Parties Hurriyet Conference leader Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori from Sopore town in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and lodged him in the sub-jail in Baramulla.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the APHC in a statement issued in Srinagar strongly condemned the arrest and termed it another act of Indian state terrorism aimed at silencing voices demanding the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas condemned the arrest of Sopori and the harassment of family members of Hurriyat leaders and activists by Indian police. He appealed to the civilized world to take notice of Indian state terrorism in IIOJK and help secure the release of all illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists languishing in different jails of India and IIOJK.

The statement said the Indian BJP regime is trying, in vain, to suppress the Kashmiris’ genuine demand for the right to self-determination.
