Payment delays push IIOJK private hospitals towards SEHAT scheme exit

Srinagar : In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, private hospitals has announced de-empanelment from SEHAT scheme from July 1, 2026, citing prolonged reimbursement delays and mounting financial strain.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the announcement was made by the Jammu and Kashmir Private Hospitals and Dialysis Centres Association. JKPHDA said private hospitals continued providing dialysis, cancer care, cardiac interventions, ICU, emergency and trauma services under SEHAT despite long delays in claim payments.
The Association called the blockage of legitimate reimbursements “unsustainable” and warned it is severely affecting healthcare institutions across occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
JKPHDA flagged rising costs of critical medicines and implants, including cancer drugs Cisplatin, Carboplatin, cardiac stents and orthopaedic implants, worsened by global supply chain disruptions. It also alleged more than Rs 180 crore of scheme funds remain unutilised with public hospitals while private hospitals face unpaid claims.
It warned continued delays could undermine hospital sustainability and disrupt patient care.
