India should withdraw AFSPA from IIOJK: Nasir Aslam

Srinagar : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s Advisor, Nasir Aslam Wani, has said that the draconian Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) should be withdrawn from Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir before being repealed in any other territory.

According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Wani said the Narendra Modi-led Indian government should consider revoking AFSPA from IIOJK.
He said Jammu and Kashmir has remained under AFSPA since July 1990 and stressed that its continued enforcement is no longer justified.

AFSPA also remains in force in several northeastern states of India, including Nagaland, Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
