Indian media silent on Pakistan’s role in US-Iran peace deal

Islamabad: Indian media has gone silent on Pakistan’s diplomatic success after Islamabad’s facilitation role in the US-Iran interim peace understanding was acknowledged internationally, exposing the collapse of India’s narrative of Pakistani “weakness”.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the text of the initial peace understanding between the United States and Iran was finalized on June 14, 2026, with formal signing scheduled for June 19 in Switzerland.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed that Pakistan, Qatar and other countries played a facilitation role. US President Donald Trump also announced the completion of the agreement and the end of the US naval blockade on Iranian ports, with the Strait of Hormuz set to reopen for commercial shipping.

While Indian media discussed the deal, it avoided mentioning Pakistan’s positive role. So-called analysts had earlier pushed propaganda that Pakistan could not facilitate progress between Washington and Tehran.

India’s External Affairs Minister also used undiplomatic language to cast doubt on Pakistan’s effort. Iran formally rejected Indian media reports and advised against spreading baseless propaganda on the negotiations.

Activists said India’s silence now proves its pre-built narrative has failed, while Pakistan’s diplomacy delivered on the regional front despite Indian attempts at sabotage.
