Indian tribunal takes control of Siraj-ul-Uloom Welfare Foundation assets in Shopian

Srinagar: The Indian National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has taken control of the assets of Siraj-ul-Uloom Welfare Foundation in Shopian district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The Jamia Siraj-ul-Uloom, a prominent educational institution in Shopian, was sealed by Indian authorities in April this year under the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

According to Kashmir Media Service, Indain officials said that all properties and assets registered under the name of Siraj-ul-Uloom Welfare Foundation have been handed over to the NCLT in Chandigarh. They warned that any interference with the properties would be treated as a violation of tribunal orders and would invite legal action under relevant provisions.

It is worth noting that Jamia Siraj-ul-Uloom provided both modern and religious education, and its closure has affected thousands of students. The institution was operating under the Falah-e-Aam Trust of Jamaat-e-Islami. Local circles have expressed serious concern over the shutdown, terming it an infringement on religious freedom.

The BJP-led Indian government has already declared several pro-freedom organizations, including Jamaat-e-Islami in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, as banned outfits. Hundreds of educational institutions run under Jamaat’s welfare trust have also been sealed.
