Modi-RSS regime involved in land grab to change IIOJK demographics: APHC-AJK leaders

Islamabad: Leaders of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC-AJK) Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter have strongly condemned the Modi government’s machinations to alter the demographic structure of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir by seizing Kashmiri land and settling non-Kashmiris.

According to Kashmir Media Service, in a joint statement issued in Islamabad, Hurriyat-AJK leaders Syed Yusuf Naseem, Raja Khadim Hussain and Sheikh Abdul Majeed said that the Hindutva-driven RSS-backed Modi government is pursuing a nefarious agenda of forcibly occupying Kashmiri lands to change the population ratio in the occupied territory.

The APHC leaders declared that the Kashmiri people will never allow these conspiracies to succeed. They emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory whose final political status is yet to be decided according to the wishes of the Kashmiri people. They said India is blatantly violating international laws and norms in the occupied territory.

The leaders stated that on one hand, India is continuing its brutal policy of genocide against the Kashmiri people, while on the other, it has converted the occupied territory into an open prison by deploying more than one million troops. The Indian occupation authorities have deprived Kashmiris of all their basic rights and civil liberties.

Despite seven decades of worst state terrorism, India has completely failed to crush the freedom spirit of the Kashmiri people, the statement said. They said Indian forces are killing Kashmiri youth in fake encounters and subjecting Hurriyat leaders and workers to inhuman and brutal treatment in jails.

The APHC leaders demanded that human rights activists, journalists and international human rights organizations raise their voice for the immediate release of Hurriyat leaders and activists languishing in Indian jails.

They further stated that the core reason for tension between India and Pakistan is the Kashmir dispute, and without resolving it according to the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, durable peace and stability in South Asia cannot be established.

The Hurriyat leaders called upon the international community to take serious notice of the grave human rights violations being committed by Indian forces in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and play its effective role for a just and lasting resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
