APHC delegation meets HRCP chairman in Karachi

Discusses IIOJK situation, seeks support for Burhan Wani rally

Karachi: A delegation of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter met Human Rights Council of Pakistan (HRCP) Chairman Jamshed Hussain in Karachi and invited him to participate in the rally being organized to mark the 10th martyrdom anniversary of renowned Kashmiri youth leader Shaheed Burhan Muzaffar Wani.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Jamshed Hussain hosted a dinner in honour of the Hurriyat delegation. The meeting focused on the prevailing situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), with particular emphasis on the ongoing human rights violations committed by Indian forces.

The delegation briefed the HRCP Chairman on the deteriorating human rights situation in IIOJK, highlighting arbitrary arrests, enforced disappearances, restrictions on freedom of expression, raids on residential houses, the prolonged detention of political activists and attempts to alter the territory’s demographic composition. It urged the international community, the United Nations and global human rights organizations to play an effective role in ensuring the Kashmiri people are granted their UN-recognized right to self-determination.

The participants also discussed the arrangements and significance of the July 8 rally, which will be held from the Arts Council Karachi to the Karachi Press Club to commemorate the 10th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Burhan Muzaffar Wani.

The Hurriyat delegation invited Jamshed Hussain to attend the rally. Assuring his full support and participation, he said the Kashmiri people’s struggle for freedom and the protection of their fundamental human rights was a just and legitimate cause that deserved the support of every justice-loving person.

The APHC-AJK delegation was led by its Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi and included Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Zahid Safi, Sheikh Abdul Majid and Imtiaz Wani. Former Supreme Court Bar Association President Yasin Azad, noted columnist Bashir Sadozai and Advocate Kamran were also present on the occasion.
