10 Bangladeshis killed in India’s BSF border violence in first half of 2026

Dhaka: At least 10 Bangladeshis were killed in incidents involving India’s Border Security Force (BSF) during the first six months of 2026, according to data released by Bangladeshi human rights organisation Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK).
According to Kashmir Media Service, the organisation documented 21 incidents of BSF violence between January and June, recording 10 deaths, 10 injuries and one case of abduction or detention.
According to the ASK report, seven of the victims were shot dead by BSF personnel, while three others died after being subjected to physical torture. The rights body also recorded 10 people injured in separate incidents of border violence during the period.
In addition, one person was abducted or detained by the BSF. The incidents were reported from border areas under the Dhaka, Khulna, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Sylhet, Chattogram and Mymensingh divisions.
Human rights groups have repeatedly urged New Delhi to take effective measures to stop the killing of civilians along the India-Bangladesh border and ensure accountability for BSF excesses.
