CJP protest enters day 20, Wangchuk loses 7 kg, student leader hospitalized
New Delhi : The Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) protest at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of Indian Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over examination and paper leaks scandal entered its 20th day on Thursday.
According to media reports, the condition of educator and climate activist Sonam Wangchuk deteriorated further as he continued his indefinite hunger strike. Doctors said he has lost more than 7 kg in 11 days and his weight was recorded at 59.40 kg.
His vital parameters were reported as stable, but hydration was described as fair.
Meanwhile, All India Students’ Association (AISA) member Hrishikesh was hospitalised at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital after suffering severe chest pain and being unable to move his limbs for nearly 24 hours. He was administered intravenous fluids, bringing his 11-day hunger strike to an end. Four other AISA members continued their fast at the protest site.
The CJP has been demanding Pradhan’s resignation, scrapping of the National Testing Agency (NTA), and action against those responsible for repeated exam paper leaks, including the cancellation and re-test of NEET-UG held in May and June.
Support for the agitation has grown, with the Samyukta Kisan Morcha delegation visiting the site to express solidarity.
