India accused of facilitating Israeli war crimes through arms shipments

New Delhi: India is facing fresh accusations of supplying military material to Israel amid the war on Gaza, with details of two cargo shipments from Indian ports exposed by Palestine-affiliated groups and media reports.

According to Kashmir Media Service, cargo ship Danica Violet, sailing under the Danish flag, departed Chennai Port on 28 March 2026. Reports cited by Cabo Verdean media claimed it was carrying 60 tonnes of missile components and artillery barrels, along with 18 containers of 155mm M107 artillery shells weighing around 318 tonnes, destined for Haifa, Israel.

The ship was expected to dock at Porto Grande, Mindelo, on 12 May 2026. Cabo Verde authorities had previously denied harbour access to another Folmer & Co. vessel in 2025.

Earlier, in May 2024, cargo vessel Borkum also came under scrutiny. Marine tracking data showed it left Chennai on 2 April 2024 carrying explosives reportedly bound for Ashdod Port near Gaza.

The cargo included 20 tonnes of rocket engines, 12.5 tonnes of rockets with explosive charges, 1,500 kg of explosive substances, and 740 kg of charges and propellants for cannons. On 15 May 2024, Borkum stopped off the Spanish coast after left-wing MEPs urged Spain to block it.

Protesters waving Palestinian flags demanded an inspection, alleging the ship carried weapons for Israel. The revelations highlight what critics call India’s contradictory stance. While New Delhi publicly expresses “grave concern” over Gaza violence and calls for a ceasefire, reports indicate Indian ports are being used to ship missile parts, shells and explosives to Israel.

Rights observers say the shipments strengthen the view that India is acting as a facilitator of Israeli war crimes, undermining its stated position of supporting dialogue over military action in conflicts.
