Restrictions in Srinagar continue for 2nd day

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP regime continued restrictions for the second consecutive day on Tuesday in Srinagar to prevent public gatherings around the Martyrs’ Graveyard at Naqshband Sahib.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the restrictions remained in place in Srinagar as authorities locked the gates of Ziyarat Naqshband Sahab in the Khwaja Bazar area on July 13.

A heavy deployment of Indian paramilitary and police personnel continued across the Nowhatta and Naqshband Sahib areas of downtown, while movement restrictions also remained in force at key locations in the city.

The restrictions were enforced on Monday, when authorities sealed the Martyrs’ Graveyard and surrounding areas to prevent assemblies on July 13.

The day is observed by many in Kashmir as the anniversary of the 1931 killings, when 22 protesters were shot dead by the Dogra army outside Srinagar Central Jail.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, other NC leaders, PDP President Mehbooba Mufti and senior APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq were not allowed to visit the graveyard to pay tributes.
