India building 4-layer forces grid in IIOJK on war-footing

Massive troop buildup turns territory into giant open-air prison for residents

ISLAMABAD : India is pushing preparations for war on a war footing in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir by deploying more troops and building a 4-layer forces grid, further militarizing the already world’s most heavily militarized zone.

According to a report released by Kashmir Media Service today, the Modi-led BJP government is accelerating border and Line of Control infrastructure, creating new posts and pickets, and strengthening surveillance to crush the Kashmiri struggle for the right to self-determination.

The report said the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to give further push to border infrastructure in IIOJK and other border states. New police posts will come up behind the BSF grid, which is also being upgraded with latest gadgetry, surveillance equipment and counter-drone systems.

India has already deployed personnel of the CRPF’s special commando unit CoBRA and other commandos across IIOJK. The massive troop concentration has turned the territory into a “giant open-air prison” for its residents, the report said. “Occupation policies cannot change Kashmir’s disputed status or the resolve of the oppressed people of IIOJK through draconian and brutal acts,” the report stated, adding that New Delhi’s military buildup is aimed at silencing the demand for Azaadi.

The report warned that the world’s human rights organizations have already flagged the risk of genocide in IIOJK, where Indian forces have committed scores of massacres since 1989. It said 96,500 Kashmiris have been killed by Indian troops in the last 38 years.

In November 1947, Indian army and Hindutva forces carried out the genocide of nearly 300,000 Muslims in the Jammu region. The report deplored that the BJP regime is now trying to change the demography of IIOJK through a new census and by issuing thousands of domicile certificates to non-locals.

“The people of Kashmir are being arrested, terrorized and silenced under black laws for pursuing a peaceful political demand. But India cannot subdue them through military might,” it said.It added that lasting peace and stability in South Asia remains linked to an amicable resolution of the lingering Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN resolutions.
