Court allows Er Rashid to attend parliament session in custody

New Delhi: A Delhi court has permitted jailed Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) Chairman in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and member of Lok Sabha, lower house of Indian parliament, from Baramulla Engineer Rashid to attend the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament under police custody, allowing him to participate in the proceedings from July 20 to August 13.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Special NIA Judge Prashant Sharma granted the relief while hearing Engineer Rashid’s plea seeking custody parole for the duration of the session.

Engineer Rashid has been lodged in Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail since 2019 after being arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with the 2017 Jammu and Kashmir ‘terror-funding’ case.
